Babies and Toddlers and Tweenies

These three rooms are in the main nursery building. After going through the reception area double doors open onto the atrium, an octagonal echoing the shape of the building. It is double height with a mural reminiscent of the Rapunzel tower painted by Jess, a member of our staff. There are high level velux windows in the roof giving light and ventilation. The babyroom, toddler room, and tweenie room all open of the atrium.

Baby Room

Up to 12 babies can be cared for by up to 4 members of staff in our baby room. We plan a wide range of activities to challenge your baby and stimulate their imagination. We aim to provide a homely environment where the babies can happily play and explore. The baby room has a small kitchen, a changing area, a baby bedroom with four cots, and its own garden area separated from the toddler garden by a colourful fence. As well as in the cots in the baby bedroom, babies can sleep in buggies or a travel cot. We will ask parents/carers for their preference for sleeping.

We ask parents/carers for extensive information about their child and their routine and habits so that we can try to mirror these at nursery and help them to settle. Sarah and Aimee are the room supervisors, they are supported by Vicky, Sophie, Linda, Kerry, Sally and Rebecca. These practitioners have many years of experience caring for babies and young children.

Toddler room

Up to 14 children can be cared for by up to 4 members of staff in our toddler room. We plan a wide range of activities to challenge your child and stimulate their imagination. The toddler room has a main room with lots of resources that children can access independently, a messy area for sand and water play and painting, a small bedroom with travel cots. The toddlers have their own garden area separated from the baby garden and the main garden by colourful fences. The toddler room staff provide many different activities to stimulate a child’s imagination. The toddler has cloakroom facilities adjacent and easily accessible, with toilets and potties, and a changing area. The toddlers also use the atrium some of the time. Charlene and Vicki are the room supervisors, and they are supported by Lisa, Alyce, Julia, Laura, and Julie. The practitioners in the toddler room are all qualified to at least level three and have many years of experience in caring for young children and first aid training.

Tweenie Room

We plan a wide range of activities to challenge your child and stimulate their imagination. We aim to introduce a little more structure into the children’s learning with group activities, preparing them for moving up to the preschool. The tweenie room has lots of toys that children can access independently, a messy area for sand and water play and painting, and its own garden area separated from the preschool garden and the main garden by colourful fences. The tweenie room shares cloakroom facilities with the toddler room, these are easily accessible, with toilets and potties, and a changing area. The tweenies also use the atrium some of the time. Gemma is the room supervisor and also our nursery SENCO. She is supported in the tweenie room by Tracey, Harriet, Amy, and Jess. The practitioners in the tweenie room are all qualified to at least level three and have many years of experience in caring for young children and have had first aid training.

Library

The main nursery building has a small library which stores extra books, games and puzzles. It can also be used for storytelling and meetings with parents/carers or as a quiet area for practitioners to catch up on paperwork.
