Rainbow Corner Day Nursery Limited

The Day Nursery

The Day Nursery and preschool are in purpose-built premises surrounded by gardens to play in and a private car park. We are on the edge of the village near to A16 giving easy access to the surrounding area.

The day nursery consisting of the babyroom, toddlers and tweenies is housed in the larger of the two buildings along with the administration offices and kitchen facilities. The smaller building is used solely for the preschool and is connected to the main building by a short corridor. The two buildings have independent access for children and their families.

We have two fully qualified forest school leaders who provide a series of woodland experience sessions to small groups over a term which take place in our forest school gardens and include trips to the woods in our minibus.

We aim to provide a homely environment that is interesting and exciting to stimulate children’s imagination and education.

The Kids Club

The Kids Club is in Holton House next to the entrance to the infant school. This building is also designed to create a homely environment whilst providing a wide variety of activities 4 inside and out. Outside there is a playground for ball games etc and a garden area for environmental pursuits. We are registered with Ofsted.

Sunshine Preschool

This preschool is housed in Holton House and is open 9am till 3pm. We aim to provide a stimulating, homely environment where children can learn and have fun, preparing them for big adventure of starting school.

The kids cub, registration number EY370141, was inspected in May 2018 and was also given a grading of ‘Good’, the inspector highlighted the variety of activities on offer and the homely atmosphere.

Background

Rainbow Corner was started by Rosemary Hubbard, sister to the present owner, as a small childcare facility run from home. The popularity of the setting forced Rosemary to look for larger premises outside the home so that she could expand and provide care for more families. The Kids Club was started in 2004 answering the call to continue caring for children after they had started school. The business was bought by Kathleen and Ian Staines in 2005 when Rosemary decided she wanted to take a less active role.

The day nursery moved to its present location in August 2017 allowing us to offer a spacious exciting environment for all ages. We also now have lots of room outside so that each group can have its own garden accessed directly from the room. There is also a fenced forest school meadow with a wooden shelter and a small area with trees enabling us to deliver woodland experience sessions as part of our forest school provision.

Rainbow Corner Day Nursery has continued to provide excellent care and education for many families in the Holton le Clay/Grimsby area for more than 40 years.

Forest school
Woodland Experiences

We have a forest school garden and two fully qualified forest school leaders who are passionate about enhancing children’s learning outside using the natural environment and natural resources.

Forest school allows every child to have a voice especially those who find it difficult to communicate in a more conventional educational environment.

Here at Rainbow Corner we believe in learning outside the class room as well as inside as it plays an essential part in supporting the development of a happy, healthy child. We offer forest school sessions to the preschool children, taking a group outside for a whole morning or a whole afternoon once a week. These sessions take place in the forest school garden on Mondays and Fridays and are led by our two fully qualified forest school leaders. The children will immerse themselves in the natural world learning how to use simple age appropriate tools, developing new skills, exploring the natural environment, learning about animals, insects and birds, and using natural materials creatively.

There will be opportunities to share food and drink such as hot chocolate or marshmallows cooked over a fire. These sessions will give children the time to connect and explore the natural world, offering opportunities to experience awe and wonder whilst having fun and learning along the way. This is fundamental for a child’s development as it builds their self-esteem, self-confidence and resilience. They will be encouraged to become self-motivated learners developing their imagination and resourcefulness. It has been proved that playing outside has a positive beneficial impact on a child’s mental health. We also offer shorter taster sessions for the tweenie children on Wednesdays and Thursdays with a forest school leader and a tweenie room practitioner.
